As a seasoned product design leader, I focus on digital product discovery and definition, user research, information architecture, interaction design and design system for complex web applications, content-heavy sites, and mobile apps. I'm interested in scaling the impact of product design teams by building design systems and implementing ResearchOps. Besides UX, I also spend time on developing methodologies for collaborating, problem solving, and planning with cross-functional teams. Since 2011, I’ve worked with clients in healthcare, education, utilities, government agencies and non-profit organizations.

I gravitate towards design challenges that help enhance human capability, self expression and build meaningful connections.

I received M.A. in Human Factors and Applied Cognition from George Mason University in 2014. I hold another M.A. in Communications from Peking University, China.

My academic background and wide interests in various disciplines in social sciences, humanities and behavioral sciences and experiences living in different cultures gave me different perspectives in understanding the world and the ability to empathize with people.

When I'm not doing UX design or research, I'd most likely be playing piano. As an adult piano learner starting in their 30s, I can now play easy to intermediate Debussy, Chopin and Bach pieces (not to say that any Debussy, Chopin or Bach pieces are actually easy). I even attempted Beethoven and Schubert sonata movements (too ambitious, I know). As a mother of two kids, this is a not easy but definitely fun journey. I find the concentration and emotional imagination required by learning and playing an instrument immensely fulfilling. I also make a mean sourdough bread well before the pandemic.
